Surroundings

The cabins and campsite are located close to an active mountain farming community. The cabins are well positioned on the sunny side of the valley, and offer unrestricted views of Hemsedal Ski Centre and the mountains to the west.
The well-marked “Solløypa” cross-country ski trail is literally right on the doorstep and takes you to Grøndalen and Hemsedal village. The area round the cabins is perfect for snowshoe walking, ski-touring and other exciting winter snow activities. Hemsedal Ski Centre is just 3 km away.

In the summer the area is ideal for fell walking with a broad selection of trails of varying difficulty. The Synarsvaet nature- and heritage trails comprise a number of circular mountain walks. The trails start from the farm and are punctuated with information boards in Norwegian, English and German. The trails pass through a traditional mountain farming country with rich mountain flora and superb views. Maps and information about walking tours can be found in the cabins. The campsite and cabins also have a common barbecue area and children’s playground. In July and August the farm’s stabbur (traditional food-storage building) is open as a reception/office and common room for people on the camp ground, with information, board games and reading material.

Hulbak is the perfect starting point for day trips to attractions and activities in Hallingdal, Valdres and West Norway. The Hemsedal Tourist Office publishes an useful “activities guide” containing information about what’s on and what there is to do throughout the year – see www.hemsedal.com.

Although just 3,5 km from Hemsedal village, Hulbak is a haven of tranquillity and the perfect place for getting away from it all and back to nature.
